Sapphire Class had a great time cooking up a storm with a three-course rain-forest inspired meal. We made our own guacamole and tortilla chips for a starter; followed by sweet and sour chicken; and finished off with a delicious fruit salad. All the ingredients came from things that grow in the rain-forest. Who wants more?!
We finished off the day by making rain-forest cookies to sell so that we can fund-raise a trip to the theatre. Thank you to all who supported us!
Sapphire Class took part in the K'Nex challenge. We were set the task of building a movable bridge. We had to consider: strength, functionality, aesthetics and innovation. We learnt a lot about engineering and construction and worked together to build our designs.
It was difficult to choose a winning design as all the children worked really well and had some great idea but Emily and David's design worked very well and also had some great safety features. Their design will be submitted into the final, where they stand a chance of winning a K'Nex kit each! Fingers crossed!
Sapphire Class have been learning about the Inca and together we built a model of Machu Picchu and then found out all about it. We discussed how and why it may have been built (as no-one's quite sure). Pop into the library to have a look and find out more!
Read our curriculum guide to find out what we will be learning about and look at page 2 for ideas of activities to do at home - please bring things in to share!
