Cockernhoe Endowed CofE Primary School

Value of the Month: Trust is the value for March

  1. Welcome

WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL

Welcome to Cockernhoe Endowed C of E School. I am proud to be leading such a happy and successful school.

The school was founded in 1881 to provide education “according to the principles and practices of the Church of England”, and is a Voluntary Aided school operating in partnership with the Local Education Authority. The school's vision is based on:

Jesus said: I have come that they might have life in all its fullness [John 10:10]

We seek to encourage the children of Cockernhoe School to develop well in every way- spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, moral and social.  We value every child as an individual, aiming to provide them with the very best care and education, thus enabling them to reach their full potential.

As Cockernhoe is a village school, it caters for the children of all denominations from the age of 4 to 11. Although primarily for children of the village and surrounding hamlets, children from other areas are most welcome.

We want every child to leave Cockernhoe happy, confident, independent and resilient, equipped with the life skills necessary for the 21st Century.

In November 2017, the school was visited by Ofsted, who judged the school to be Good. The children told the Inspector that "they love coming to school and enjoy learning." Then in May 2018, the school was visited by SIAMS inspectors. They judged the school to be an Outstanding Church of England School. The report stated that the School's Values had a significant impact on pupil behaviour and achievement.

We offer a wide curriculum where academic excellence and creativity are highly valued and participation in sporting and music activities is encouraged.

Quality support staff assist a team of dedicated and enthusiastic teachers in providing children with challenging and enjoyable learning experiences. Children are well motivated, confident, polite and well behaved.

Visits to the school are welcome.
