We had a visit from Rabbi Jeff who told us all about different artefacts that are used in Jewish prayers. He brought in a ram's horn which he blew down and it made the most amazing sound!
We also learnt about the rosary in Catholicism and the prayer mat in Islam. We made our own rosaries and thought about what we are thankful for. We also did some weaving with paper that showed the import aspects of a prayer mat - being clean, lanterns to represent light and compasses to represent facing Mecca.
This week, Amber class have been learning about travel and transport. We went on a trip to Stockwood Park Discovery Centre to see their display of old vehicles. We had a great time and learnt a lot about how travel and transport have changed over time. We even got the chance to go inside an old carriage!
We saw a video of the first car and, in the afternoon, we looked at Miss Dickson's car to try to see if we could see anything that is the same.
We are finding out about George Stephenson and the Rocket.
Amber class have been finding out about inventions and inventors this week. We have been learning about how people invent things and how they build on the ideas of others. The children have explored K'Nex and we even tried to build bridges and some of them managed to make the bridges stand up on their own (with a little help from Miss Dickson)
We have also had the opportunity to look at real world machines too!
We designed inventions to help us in the morning. Check out our fantastic designs below:
