Who are we?
Ajay Sule - Chair of Governors
I have had a longstanding relationship with the school dating back to the early 90’s. Two of my daughters were pupils at the school, and my wife was also an active PTA member. My family and I have lived next door to the school for 29 years and this is my second stint as a governor, having rejoined in 2017. I am semi retired, working part time in a Cyber Security Consultancy, and prior to that I spent 30 years in Technology research and consulting.
Jennifer Davey - Vice Chair of Governors
I have been a parent governor for just over a year now. Both my children attend Cockernhoe in Emerald and Ruby class, and both love the school. I work in HR for Epson and grew up in the village (fun fact my grandad was the farmer of the surrounding farm!)I hope to be able to give back to the school as it means to much to both of my children.
Josias De Souza - Vicar of St Francis
I'm Brazilian and I moved with my family to the UK in 2016. I previously taught Sociology at a high school, worked as a business executive in advertising and worked as an acoustics engineer. Ordained about 18 years ago, today I am the Vicar of St Francis Parish, which includes St Hugh's Church in Cockernhoe. I really like music and I play the guitar.
Helen Harris
I became a governor when my 3rd daughter left Cockernhoe School in 2015. I wanted to give something back as my children had such a wonderful time at the school, spanning 17 years. I have lived in Cockernhoe for 19 years and the school is very much at the heart of our community.
My background is in Finance and I have worked as Accounts Payable Manager for TUI Airways for the last 16 years.
Graham Hosker -
I retired last year from teaching as a peripatetic percussion teacher for Hertfordshire Music for over 41 years, having also taught throughout Bedfordhire (including Luton before becoming a Unitary Authority). For the last 13 years I was Lead Teacher for Orchestral Percussion. In 1984, I started examining for Guildhall School of Music, and since the amalgamation, have continued in that work with Trinity College London. I am also a churchwarden at St Francis' Church, which is the main reason for my place here as governor, as I am standing for the incumbent (we are currently in a vacancy). In the past, my four sons were pupils here at Cockernhoe.
Hazel Lines
I have been a member of St Francis Church and lived in Wigmore since moving to Luton in 2011. I am supporting the school to share my senior school leadership experience and further improve my understanding of primary education.
Jane Borritt
I have historical links with Cockernhoe School. Five generations of my family have been educated at the school, including myself and my three children. I am currently a teaching assistant in Sapphire Class and have been working in education for twenty years. I have been a Governor at Cockernhoe School for ten years and am passionate about the development and learning of all the children. My role allows me to contribute and support in this development. I am also a member of the admissions and the premises committees.
Mark Deacon
I worked for Monarch Airlines for over thirty years covering Flight Planning and Navigation and retired from aviation in 2018 after a year spent with International Airlines Group at Heathrow as Group Lead for Airspace. I enjoyed travelling - representing the airline industry in Airspace and Air Traffic Management matters both in the UK and overseas. I have a BA Honours degree in Geography & History. I was a PCC Governor for eight years whilst my two sons were at Cockernhoe and, following an eighteen month break, returned to the Governing Body as Chairman for another six years. I have returned to the Governing Body for a third stint and currently serve on the Finance & Premises and Personnel Committees. I have also been a member of Harpenden Lions for over thirty years and am Chairman of the Luton 10F Air Cadets Squadron.
