School Values and Ethos
The school aims:
- to provide the best possible education for each child within the context of a caring Christian community
- to develop skills and the will to use those skills that will enable the child to acquire knowledge independently and develop a love of learning
- to enable each child to develop self-confidence, a sense of personal worth and to reach their true potential
- to develop consideration for the needs of others and a sense of social responsibility
- to develop understanding of the Christian faith, based on the teaching of the Bible and of the Church of England, and an awareness of Christian values
- to develop personal and moral values and to foster respect for other cultures, religions and ways of life
- to develop a concern for the environment and an understanding of the world in which we live.
Our vision is:
At our Cockernhoe school, we are inspired by the words of Jesus:
“I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).
This promise lies at the heart of our vision and shapes all that we do. We believe that every child is uniquely created in the image of God and deserves the opportunity to flourish.
Through a nurturing, inclusive, and ambitious learning environment, we are committed to giving every child the chance to experience life in all its fullness—academically, spiritually, emotionally, socially, and creatively. Our school is open to every child and we seek to offer each and everyone of them the chance to experience the wonderful world around us within the curriculum, outside of the curriculum in school and at home.
Rooted in our Christian foundation, our core values of which the children learn about throughout the school year, to guide us in helping each child to grow in character, confidence, and compassion. We aim to equip every child not just for success in school, but for life—ready to make a positive difference in the world.
The School values:
Throughout the year, the School has a monthly value taken from Value in Schools.
